Raymur Flinn -- a member of the Rendondo Beach School Board and former executive director of the District's Educational Foundation -- will assume the post July 1. She will replace Linda Greenberg, who assumed the post on an interim basis in November after announcing her retirement in April 2022 after 28 years as executive director ("Greenberg to Retire as Head of Ed Foundation," April 5, 2022). “I’m excited to inherit and continue the work Linda Greenberg and others have engaged in these many years,” Flinn said in a statement this week.

During Flinn's tenure, the Redondo Beach Educational Foundation saw an 82 percent increase in annual dollars raised and contributed nearly $2 million a year to the School District, according to Ed Foundation officials.

“Her passion, energy and excitement for the work of the Ed Foundation, and her prior experiences in and knowledge of fundraising and public education, will be tremendously valuable to the Ed Foundation and the Santa Monica community,” said John Baracy, the Foundation's president.

Flinn has "extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising and advocacy for public schools," including serving as PTA Council president and on the School Board, where she was re-elected to a second four-year term last November.

Flinn will join the Ed Foundation on a part-time basis on May 30 "to learn the inner workings of the Ed Foundation and meet SMMUSD families and community members," Foundation officials said.

Greenberg will remain involved with the Ed Foundation as Flinn assumes the post, according to Foundation officials.

“I’ve known Raymur for several years and have always seen her as an incredibly gifted leader and dedicated champion for public schools,” Greenberg said.

“I couldn’t be happier to see her take the reins of the Santa Monica Education Foundation as its next Executive Director, and I’m excited to work with her on a seamless transition in the coming weeks.”

Flinn joins the Foundation on the heals of its annual Wine Auction, which raised a record $435,000 this month ("Ed Foundation Wine Auction Sets Fundraising Record," May 16, 2024).

The funds raised by the Foundation support arts programs, elementary classroom aides, STEM programs and stretch grants for Santa Monica's 11 public schools.
