December 26, 2023 -- A man was arrested for attempted homicide after stabbing a resident in a Mid-City apartment building on Christmas Eve, according to police.

Santa Monica police responded to call at around 11:26 p.m. Sunday reporting an assault in progress inside a unit in a complex on the 1300 block of 14th Street, police officials said. "Officers found a male resident inside the unit with serious facial injuries and stab wounds to his forehead, neck and back," said Lt. Erika Aklui, the Police Department spokesperson. "The victim was still conscious and able to describe his attacker, who is known to him," Aklufi said.

"Other officers were flagged down by witnesses who heard the argument and recognized the attacker," she said.

The suspect -- identified as 29-year-old Christopher Clay Williams -- was taken into custody without incident in the 1300 block of Alley 14, according to police.

He was booked into the Santa Monica Jail for Attempted Homicide, police said. The victim was transported to a local hospital.
