Santa Monica Red Cross "Red Tie Affair" to Celebrate Chapter's 90 Years of Service
The American Red Cross of Santa Monica's "Red Tie Affair" will be held at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel, 101 Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica, Saturday, March 24, 2007, beginning at 6 p.m.
The Red Tie Affair will be an inspiring evening of fine dining, music and entertainment. An elegant and festive affair, it promises to be the most talked about Santa Monica social event of the year, according to event organizers.
In addition to Hugh Laurie and most of the cast of the hit Fox TV show, "House, M.D." a number of celebrities will be in attendance including TV and film actor, Chi McBride who is Master of Ceremonies for the gala. A growing list of well known personalities and celebrities have registered to attend the gala event which recognizes the ninety years of service the Santa Monica chapter of the American Red Cross has provided to the community.
World famous celebrity chef, author and TV show host, Nick Stellino is creating and supervising the a three-course gourmet dinner. He promises there will be no "rubber chicken" at this affair. Stellino is considered to be one of the world's top chefs. He produces and hosts a number of highly successful cooking series on the Public Broadcasting System and is the author of seven best selling cookbooks on Italian and Mediterranean cooking.
In addition to the awards, both live and silent auctions will be held with some amazing items up for bid including vacations, original artwork, rare sports memorabilia and a Maurice Lacroix watch.
Red Tie Award Honorees
Fox Broadcasting Company and the "House, M.D." television show starring Hugh Laurie are special honorees for their support of the American Red Cross. Most of the cast is expected to attend the gala.
Additional honorees are Dr. Janet K. Salomonson, M.D., F.A.C.S., Dr. Lisa Masterson, M.D. and Santa Monica Police Department Detective, Don Doss.
Dr. Salomonson, a plastic surgeon and Director of the Cleft Palate Center at St. John's Health Center is being honored for her work teaching and performing cleft palate reconstruction on children and adult patients in Nicaragua, Guatemala and Peru.
Dr. Masterson, an obstetrician and gynecologist, is the founder of the Santa Monica-based Maternal Fetal Care International, a nonprofit public benefit corporation that helps mothers and children survive and enjoy better health in Ghana and impoverished parts of Africa and in India.
SMPD Detective, Don Doss, works with the elder community and donates thousands of hours a year in time looking after the well being of Santa Monica's seniors. He consults with a number of county and state boards and committees concerning senior abuse issues.

The "Red Tie Affair" benefits the American Red Cross of Santa Monica which is celebrating 90 years of service to the community and American Red Cross month.
