Stay in Santa Monica Like a Tourist

By Lookout Staff

March 5, 2026 -- Los Angeles County residents can experience Santa Monica as tourists do with discounted rates at more than a dozen hotels in the world-renown beach city.

Santa Monica Travel & Tourism (SMTT) on Wednesday announced the return of its “Spring Staycation in Santa Monica” promotion though April 13.

Sixteen local hotels are offering discounted stays ranging from 10 to 30 percent off and special offers to experience the city's "abundance of dining offerings, all-new attractions and fresh ocean air."

“A staycation in Santa Monica offers Angelenos both ease of access and complete immersion in the iconic California coastal lifestyle travelers visit from around the world to experience,” said Misti Kerns, SMTT's President/CEO.

“We invite you to plan a stay today in your backyard beach city and enjoy oceanfront relaxation, buzzing shopping and entertainment districts and exceptional accommodations at a special price for our neighbors across Los Angeles County.”

This year, the program takes place during the centennial of the legendary Route 66, making it a perfect time to take in the western end of the storied road.

Staycationers can drive the Los Angeles stretch of Route 66 and have a meal at Mel’s Drive-In where the original interstate road ended, then walk to the End of the Trail Sign on the Santa Monica Pier.

The Staycation might even inspire local artists to join in celebrating the centennial by entering the Santa Monica Route 66 Song contest for a chance to win $10,000.

To participate in the Spring Staycation program, residents must show proof of Los Angeles County residency when they check in.

Special booking instructions from each participating property can be found at santamonica.comspring-staycation, while a calendar of events and activities can be found at santamonica.com/events.
