January 21, 2025 -- The Santa Monica Pier will host a fundraiser Thursday to help victims of the Palisades Fire that has destroyed more than 6,200 structures, including the local high school.

The “Locals' Night for Fire Relief” fundraiser -- which takes place Thursday from 3:30 to 10 p.m. -- offers "a night of music, connection, and care for the community," event organizers announced Tuesday.

Co-hosted by Pacific Park in partnership with KTLA, the fundraiser includes a Books & Cookies musical storytime, a classic car show, local DJs, vendors and a satellite bar.

The funds raised will support the American Red Cross, The California Community Foundation and Santa MoniCARES, three organizations that are helping Southern California wildfire victims find relief.

The event "focuses on giving back to those impacted by the Palisades fire, which devastated homes and businesses," organizers said.

Those attending Thursday's fundraiser are encouraged to purchase gift cards from Santa Monica restaurants, shops and small businesses and bring them to the event, where they will be collected and donated to those in need.

The event also will assist Palisades Charter High School to raise funds to replace or repair buildings, restore the tech infrastructure and find temporary space for in-person instruction.

The school -- whose students come from more than 100 LA area ZIP codes, with more than a quarter from low-income families -- also needs funding for additional buses to attend sports and team competitions and to replace lost equipment. To donate directly to Pali High, visit PaliHigh.org/RaisePali.

Pacific Park’s Ferris wheel -- the only one in the world that is solar powered -- will be the focal point for fundraising and programming.

The wheel will spread the message to donate to relief organizations by texting “Care” to 833-402-7341 or visit https://pacpark.com/care
