December 23, 2025 -- Several City facilities and non-essential services closed for two weeks on Monday, while most other services will be suspended on Christmas and New Year.
All public safety and emergency services will operate normally during the closure, trash/recycling/green bin pickup, street sweeping, and transportation and parking operations will continue with only minimal disruptions.

Facilities that will be fully closed include City Hall, all public libraries, the Annenberg Community Beach House and the Santa Monica Swim Center.
The City Clerk’s Office will be available in-person to accept subpoenas, summons, claims, requests for hearings or other forms that must be filed. The service is available half days from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Christmas and New Year's Eve and will be fully closed Christmas and New Year.
Building & Safety, Code Enforcement and City Planning staff will provide essential services. Code Enforcement staff will be on duty during regular business hours with a focus on high priority issues.
Minimal essential staff will be available to answer questions via 311, with the exception of December 24 and 31, when they will be available from 7:30 a.m. to noon only, and December 25 and 26 and January 1, when the services will be suspended.
Business License, Utility Billing and Treasury teams will be available by phone during regular business hours with the same exceptions as above.
The Big Blue Bus will operate on a weekend schedule on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, while the Big Blue Bus and parking operations customer service, including in-person services at the GoSaMo Center on 4th Street, will be closed December 24, 25 and 31 and on January 1.
Mobility digital permit counter services will be available for a half day from 8 a.m. to noon on December 24 and 31 and will be fully closed on Christmas and New Year's Day.
Parking meters will not be enforced on Christmas, except for meters that are enforced daily according to posted signage. Meters that are enforced daily must be paid.
In addition, preferential Parking (residential/visitor permits) will not be enforced on Christmas and street cleaning will be suspended on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
There will also be no refuse, recycling, or yard/green waste collection on Christmas Day.
All City of Santa Monica beach lots and pay-by-space lots are enforced 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, including Christmas Day.
