April 14, 2025 -- A Santa Monica man arrested for allegedly threatening to bomb the Coachella Music & Arts Festival remained in custody Monday afternoon after declining to talk to police.
Davis Darvish, 40, was arrested at 12:11 p.m. Saturday after officers from the Cathedral City Police Department (CCPD) tracked down the suspect's Tesla in nearby Palm Springs, officials said.
Darvish, who is being held on $1 million bail at the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio, chose not to speak to police under rights afforded by the Miranda Act, police officials told The Lookout.
The arrest came after CCPD responded to the Agua Caliente Casino at 10:47 a.m. Saturday regarding a report by security guards that a suspicious man driving a Tesla had "approached them and said he would be responsible for a bombing" at the festival.
"Officers quickly identified the vehicle and used DMV information to positively identify the vehicle’s owner," then issued a "Be On The Look-Out (BOLO)" for Darvish and the Tesla registered under his name, officials said.
"Cathedral City personnel used FLOCK ALPR technology to track Darvish’s movement throughout the Coachella Valley," police said.
Palm Springs police officers located Darvish’s vehicle and detained him while CCPD Detectives responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit responded to the scene and searched the suspect’s vehicle.
"No weapons, explosives, or bomb-making materials were found in Darvish’s possession or his vehicle when he was detained," CCPD officials said.
Darvish was arrested for falsely making a bomb threat, which is punishable for up to one year in County jail.
CCPD Detectives are currently investigating Darvish’s activities prior to his contact with Agua Caliente Casino security, according to police.
The annual Coachella Music & Arts Festival is held in Indio over two consecutive weekends and draws an estimated 125,000 daily attendees. This year's headliners include Lady Gaga, Green Day and Post Malone.
