March 17, 2023 -- A homeless man was charged Thursday with a series of nighttime sexual assaults on homeless women late last summer, including one in Santa Monica, according to police.

Anthony Pittman, 39, was arrested Tuesday in West Hollywood for the assaults that took place in Santa Monica and Los Angeles between August 28 and September 15, 2022.
The last assault took place in Santa Monica, said Lt. Erika Aklufi, a Police Department spokesperson.
"As far as I can tell, he was not active in our city in the intervening months between the series and the arrest a few days ago," she said.

Pittman was linked to the cases by DNA, Aklufi said. His victims were all female adults "who were experiencing homelessness at the time of the assaults."
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Airport Office charged Pittman with three counts of forcible rape, one count of forcible sodomy, one count of digital penetration and one count of sexual battery.
Anyone with information about Pittman or the assaults should call Sgt. Chad Goodwin (310) 458-8931, Detective Oscar Flores (310) 458-8609 or the Watch Commander at (310) 458-2249.
