North of Montana 7th Most Expensive Zip Code in U.S.

By Lookout Staff February 15, 2023 -- North of Montana was the 7th priciest zip code in the U.S. last year with a median home sale price of $4.378 million, according to a ranking released this week by PropertyShark.com. The exclusive area rose from 9th last year after the median price of a home jumped by $350,000 in 2022, according to the real estate data provider. Sunset Park ranked 38 among the 50 most expensive zip codes, despite a $22,000 decrease in the median home sale price last year. Los Angeles County remained the priciest county in the U.S. with 21 of the 100 most expensive zip codes, including Beverly Hills, which ranked 5th in the nation with a median home sale price of $5.122 million. Meanwhile, California remained by far the most expensive state with 70 percent of the nation's priciest zip codes, according to the rankings. For the 6th straight year, Atherton, California, a town of 7,193 in San Mateo County, was the nation's most expensive zip code, with a median home sale price of $7.9 million last year. "The billionaire hotspot now sports a median sale price that’s more than 20 times higher than the national median," according to the report. Sagaponack, New York -- a village of 326 on the East End of Long Island -- ranked a distant second with a median sale price of $5.75 million, followed by Ross, California, a town of 2,165 just north of San Francisco with a median home price of $5.5 million. They were followed by Miami Beach with a median price of $5.2 million and Beverly Hills. The only other zip code more expensive than North of Montana was Medina, Washington, a city of 2,928 on a peninsula on the east side Lake Washington, where Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos have homes.
