March 4, 2022 -- Police on Friday arrested an armed felon who shot up a garage door and held up a Jack in the Box on Wednesday afternoon.

Arnoldo Martinez

The shooting took place at around 1 p.m. at an occupied dwelling on the 800 block of Pico Boulevard, said Lt. Rudy Flores, the Police Department spokesman.

Officers responding to a report of gunshots "found several spent handgun shell casings and learned that an unknown individual had fired multiple rounds into a garage door," Flores said.

No injuries have been linked to during this incident, according to police.

At around 2:10 p.m. on the same day, an armed robbery took place at the Jack in the Box at 2025 Lincoln Boulevard.

The male suspect involved "was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun" and was "seen fleeing the scene in a dark colored sedan," Flores said.

Detectives investigating both incidents "concluded that one male suspect was responsible for both crimes," Flores said.

On Friday, detectives located and arrested Arnoldo Martinez, a 33- year-old-male, in the Newton area of South Los Angeles, police said.

When he was arrested, Martinez was armed with an unserialized loaded firearm (“ghost-gun”), ammunition, a knife and narcotics, Flores said.

He was transported to Santa Monica Jail and booked for armed robbery, shooting an inhabited dwelling and being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm.

Anyone with additional information should call Detective Tavera at 310-458-2256 or the Watch Commander (24 hours) at 310-458-8426.
