June 10, 2022 -- Billed as "a leading international art fair," Frieze Los Angeles is headed to Santa Monica, where it will hold its fourth edition at the Airport next year, City officials announced this month.

The four-day fair -- which will take place over multiple sites -- will host "a multitude of the world’s leading galleries," officials said.

It also will feature a signature Frieze bespoke tent, built and designed by Kulapat Yantrasast’s WHY studios, and Focus LA, a section devoted to local galleries that have been around for 15 years or less.

“We are thrilled to be bringing such a venerated art fair to our community and welcome the benefits it will provide to Santa Monica," said Cultural Affairs Manager Shannon Daut.

"We look forward to working with Frieze to connect the event to local artists and arts organizations, and to continue to leverage opportunities to expand the arts at both the Santa Monica Airport and beyond."

Santa Monica Airport is home to more than 60 artist studios and a number of creative venues and offers a sprawling canvass for activities.

“Frieze Los Angeles’ new home offers us so much," said Christine Messineo, director of Americas for Frieze. "The scale of the site allows for ambitious activations and collaborations with artists, galleries, and non-profits.

"As a major destination, the fair will extend its reach across the city and celebrate the creative communities of Los Angeles.”

Launched in 2019, Frieze Los Angeles' first three events were sold out, with the 2020 edition canceled due to the coronavirus shutdown.

The third edition of the fair took place this year from February 17 to 20 in a new location in the heart of Beverly Hills.

It brought together "over 100 of the most significant galleries from LA and around the world," according to the fair's website.
