September 7, 2021 -- Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly shot at two victims after ramming their car in the Pico Neighborhood Monday afternoon.
One of the victims "received a grazing wound to his knee," said Lt. Rudy Flores, the Police Department spokesman. He was transported to a local hospital.
Police responded to two calls at around 1:20 p.m. -- one reporting shots fired near the corner of Yorkshire Avenue and Pico Boulevard, the other reporting a hit and run near the same location, according to Flores.
When the officers arrived, the suspect -- described as a white male, 20 to 25 years old -- had left the scene in a "newer" Mercedes Benz 4-door sedan, Flores said.
One of the victims and witnesses reported that the suspect "rammed the victims’ car from behind in a possible road rage incident," he said.
"The victims exited their vehicle and while attempting to flee were targeted by the suspect who fired several gun shots at them."
The suspect is described as 6’1’’ tall, with a thin build and tattoos on the right side of his face, police said.
He was wearing a blue and white long sleeve sweater, gray or tan pants and white shoes.
Anyone with additional information concerning the incident or suspect should call Detective Haro with the Criminal Investigations Division at 310-458-2256 or the Santa Monica Department’s Watch Commander (24 hours) at 310-458-8427.
