Both suspects fled southbound on Neilson Way through Ocean Park Boulevard in an "older SUV, possibly a Sequoia, 4Runner or Tahoe," said Lt. Rudy Flores, the Police Department spokesman.
The shooting took place at around 3 a.m. Wednesday, September 22 near the corner of Ocean Avenue and Pacific Street.
The victim told police he was asleep in his vehicle when the suspects "armed with a handgun and taser, opened his door and demanded his car keys," Flores said.
"A verbal altercation ensued" and "Suspect #2 tased the victim, then Suspect #1 shot the victim in the face," Flores said.
Suspect #1 is approximately 5'4" to 5'7" in height and weighs between 155 and 170 pounds, police said. He has a buzzed haircut and "fuzz on the upper lip."
The suspect was wearing "a button up short sleeve loose fitted orange/yellow/reddish checkered pattern shirt (and) loose dark pants//jeans," police said.
He had a 9mm semi-automatic handgun, "medium toned" and with an approximately 6-inch barrel.
Suspect #2 is approximately 5'4" in height and weighs between 145 and 165 pounds, police said.
He is described as "flabby" with a "baby face" with no facial hair. Like Suspect #1, he sported a buzzed haircut.
He was wearing a dark or red jersey type top "crossover" with dark letters and dark to medium jean shorts and white tennis shoes, police said. He had a black 5-inch taser or stun gun.
