November 7, 2019 -- Police arrested two suspects Thursday in a stabbing that took place in Downtown Santa Monica Wednesday night.
The stabbing took place at around 7 p.m. near the corner of 7th Street and Santa Monica Boulevard, said Lt. Candice Cobarrubias, the Police Department spokesperson.
Police in the area near the Downtown Library "observed a male bleeding profusely from his arm," Cobarrubias said.
The officers provided emergency medical aid "in order to prevent significant blood loss," she said.
The male victim had a laceration to his neck and a significant laceration to his brachial artery, a major blood vessel in the arm, Cobarrubias said.
He was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and is in stable condition.
The Department’s Criminal Investigation Division identified the two suspects involved in the stabbing and arrested them Thursday at around 1:30 p.m. for assault with a deadly weapon, she said.
"Because the investigation is on-going, the Santa Monica Police Department is not releasing the names of the two subjects taken into custody," Cobarrubias said.
Police will release more information as the investigation unfolds, she said.
