March 14, 2018 -- Santa Monica College's ceramics students will showcase their works during the 12th Annual Santa Monica Airport ArtWalk a week from this Saturday.

ArtWalk -- presented by the City of Santa Monica Airport and Cultural Affairs -- takes place March 24 from noon to 5 p.m. along Airport Avenue and will feature the works of students in SMC's Ceramic Arts and Art Mentor Programs.

The students also will "demonstrate their creative process, from molding and wheeling the clay through baking and glazing the finished designs," event organizers said.

Students in the SMC Art Mentor program -- which gives "highly talented students" a chance to work closely with mentors -- will also exhibit their work and discuss their process in a large common-area studio, SMC officials said.

The student ceramic and glass works will be on sale.

The annual artwalk gives participants a chance to visit the many galleries and art studios along Airport Avenue, as well as the Museum of Flying and The Ruskin Group Theatre.

The event features live music, children’s improv workshops, art sales and a number of other events and festivities.

A variety of food trucks will sell snacks and beverages during the event.

Airport Avenue is located on the south side of the airport, between Bundy Drive and 23rd Street.

The free event is presented with support from the Museum of Flying, Santa Monica College and other airport venues

Free parking, a shuttle shuttle service and bike valet are provided.

For more information, download the Santa Monica Airport ArtWalk brochure at smgov.net/airportartwalk, visit the ArtWalk on Facebook (SMOArtWalk), or call Santa Monica Cultural Affairs at (310) 458-8350.
