September 30, 2014 -- Mysterious author Pseudonymous Bosch will be kicking off his next series of books with an appearance Saturday at the Santa Monica Public Library, where he allegedly began penning his bestselling “Secret Series.”

For the past several years, Bosch has kept young readers entertained with his series of books about three children and their adventures as part of the Terces Society, a group that keeps a mysterious Secret from being found out or stolen by the evil Midnight Sun society.

For his next trick, Bosch has conjured up “The Bad Series,” which kicks off with the first book “Bad Magic.”

“Bad Magic is the story of skeptical kid Clay, who does not believe in magic, especially after his magician brother, Max Ernest, leaves home without saying goodbye,” Public Services Librarian Robert Graves said.

“But then a magic journal gets Clay expelled from school and lands him at Earth Ranch, a summer camp for wayward youths on an island where nothing is as it seems.”

“As Clay races to uncover the strange history of the island and his even stranger fellow campers, he finally realizes that magic might not be all that bad,” he added.

Pseudonymous Bosch -- a pen name of author Raphael Simon – is the author of the best-selling “Secret Series” of children’s mystery novels, which includes such creatively titled books as “The Name of This Book Is Secret,” “If You're Reading This, It's Too Late,” “This Book Is Not Good for You,” “This Isn't What it Looks Like,” and “You Have To Stop This.”

“A little known secret about the ‘Secret Series’ is that Pseudonymous Bosch wrote the first draft of the first book at the Santa Monica Public Library,” said Graves.  “Though we have no idea what corners he was hiding in when he did so.”

Each book is centered on the five senses: the first book concerns scent, the second is about sound, the third centers on taste, the fourth sight, and the fifth is about touch.

This special author event starts at 2 p.m. and is open to all ages and is a ticketed event. Tickets are free, and will be distributed one hour prior to the program in the lobby outside the Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium.

Tickets are limited to one per person, and guests must be present to receive a ticket.

Seating inside the auditorium is first come, first served.
