March 15, 2013 -- In preparation for Sunday's marathon, Santa Monica is letting residents and visitors know which streets will be closed this weekend. Street closures begin on Saturday, according to City officials. Santa Monica will close the eastbound lanes of Wilshire Boulevard between Second Street and Ocean Avenue starting at 3 p.m. The City will continue to shut down streets at midnight, starting with the finish line area: Ocean Avenue between Washington and Wilshire Boulevards. Then, starting at 1 a.m., the City will close Main Street from Pico Boulevard to Colorado Avenue and Olympic Drive from 4th to Main Street to make way for the runner shuttles. The City will shut down the eastbound lanes of San Vincente Boulevard starting at 5 a.m. Sunday. While the eastbound lanes will remain open, officials said left turns will be prohibited. “Ocean Avenue will be CLOSED to all vehicle travel between San Vicente Blvd. and Colorado Avenue,” officials said. “Northbound and southbound traffic will be allowed on Ocean Ave. from Pico Blvd. to Colorado Avenue. The Moomat Ahiko ramp to and from PCH will be open in both directions.” Watch out for these other closures around Santa Monica: Southbound Second Street from Wilshire to Colorado. Northbound Fourth Street from Colorado to Broadway will be closed in the morning only and will reopen at around noon. Colorado from Fourth to Fifth Streets is closed. Westbound Wilshire at Fourth Street will be closed (local access only). Colorado from Ocean Avenue to Second Street will be closed (local access only). The California Incline will also be closed.
