By Lookout Staff June 11, 2013 -- One man is dead and another seriously injured after the two were shot in an alley in Santa Monica's Pico Neighborhood early Monday morning, police said. Santa Monica Police are looking for a hispanic between 20 and 30 years old after he allegedly shot two men this morning around 8:15 a.m. in an alley near 16th Street and Michigan Avenue. According to police officials, the suspect may have gotten out of a blue Infiniti before approaching the two victims on foot and firing. The suspect then fled in the same car, officials said. Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital where one eventually died as a result of his wounds. Tuesday's shooting was the third in the last five days to rock the usually sleepy beachside City. On Friday, a lone gunman killed five people, including his father and brother, before being gunned down by police at the Santa Monica College library. )fficials said that though Tuesday's shooting happened in the same neighborhood where John Zawarhi began his June 7 shooting spree, there is no connection between the two events. On Sunday, another man was shot while riding a bike just a few blocks from the Zawarhi house on Yorkshire Avenue. He was injured and in stable condition, officials said. Officers are investigating whether Tuesday's shooting is gang related and they are looking into whether it could have any connection to the shooting on Sunday. The Sunday shooting is also believed to be gang related and unrelated to Friday's rampage. |
