April 9, 2013 -- A woman who kidnapped her son from his Santa Monica residence last month was arrested by police in Clermont, Florida, where she had fled with the eight-year-old boy.

Adriana Joriel Johns -- who lost custody of her son, Jounel Armon Taylor, to her mother in December of 2012 -- was taken into custody on March 22 by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department.

The officers who responded to the residence in the town of 30,000 west of Orlando recovered Jounel, who was in good health, according to Santa Monica police.

On March 24, the boy was reunited with his grandmother, who flew to Florida.

Authorities suspect that Johns, 27, kidnapped her son after he spent the night with her at an “unknown residence.”

“Johns was allowed to keep her eight-year-old son overnight, and instead of taking him to school the next morning, she fled with (him) and stopped communicating with her mother,” said Sgt. Richard Lewis, the police department spokesman.

According to authorities, Taylor's grandmother, who has full custody of the eight-year-old, lives in Santa Monica.

Johns waived extradition and was brought back to Santa Monica Friday and booked on charges of child abduction and an outstanding burglary warrant.

Bail was set at $150,000.00.  Johns was arraigned Monday at the LAX Airport Court.
