October 11, 2012 -- Police are looking for a suspect in connection with a sexual assault on a woman who was attacked while jogging on the beach in the early morning Wednesday, Santa Monica Police officials said.
The woman reported that, while she was out for a run at approximately 4:50 a.m. near lifeguard tower 8 -- the 800 block of the beach -- a man chased her down and wrestled her to the sand.
“The suspect is described as a male White, approximately 30 years of age, 5’06” with a thin muscular build, short dark brown hair, a full beard, wearing only blue jean shorts,” authorities said. “The victim did not notice the suspect to have any noticeable scars, marks or tattoos on his body.”
“The suspect physically and sexually assaulted the victim,” according to authorities. The victim “continued to fight and was able to free herself and run towards the Pacific Coast Highway.”
The suspect was last seen heading northbound from the scene of the crime.
