Work on Expo Line in Santa Monica to Start Again this Week

By Lookout Staff

April 4, 2012 -- Work crews will be busy this month paving the way for the coming of the Expo Light Rail line in 2015.

The crews this week will begin relocating an existing sanitary sewer line currently located under Colorado Avenue between 17th Court and 14th Court, City officials said.

Work will include excavating approximately 1,200 linear feet along the parking lane on the south side of the Colorado Avenue and some areas of the sidewalk to install new manholes and pipes, officials said.

When the work is completed, the street and sidewalk will be restored.

The work will take place during weekdays from 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. with the exception of work at key intersections -- such as 17th St. and Colorado-- that may need to be done at night to minimize traffic impacts, officials said.

The public will be advised if the nighttime work is scheduled.

Work is beginning this week on the Expo right of way. Work on Colorado will begin in mid-April and last through approximately June 1.

The work will be managed and performed by the Expo Phase 2 design-build contractor Skanska-Rados Joint Venture (SRJV) and its subcontractors.
