April 9, 2010 --The Wilshire/Montana Neighborhood Coalition will host a forum at 11 a.m. on Saturday on “affordable quality long-term care housing in Santa Monica.” The forum will feature several guest speakers at the Santa Monica Library.

“Learn about the issues that are critical for the elderly and the younger generation who will be responsible for their care,” a notice for the forum states.

.Those expected to speak at the forum include John H. Cochrane, III, president and CEO of Southern California Presbyterian Homes; Stella Mora Henry, a senior care specialist; Francie Stefan, Santa Monica’s community and strategic planning manager and

Dr. Katherine Ward, a long-term care specialist from Santa Monica/UCLA Medical Center. Planning Commissioner Jay Johnson will moderate the event.

For more information, call Elaine Blaugrund at 310-840-2257 or send an email to info@wilmont.org.

Also on Saturday, the Montana Avenue businesses will hold their annual “Tax Free Day.”

More than 60 shops will participate in the event, where Santa Monica’s 9.75 percent sales tax will be taken off all products. The effort is expected to boost sales for the prominent street that was hit hard during the recession, but has seen a recent upswing in business.
