Arson Investigation Called for 3 Monday Fires
By Lookout Staff

The Santa Monica Fire Department says three Monday morning blazes in close proximity to each other on the eastern end of the city “appear to be related.” The fires damaged three residential buildings, but no injuries were reported. An arson investigation is taking place.

The fires were reported at 4:26 a.m. at 1507 Stanford St., 1532 Centinela Ave. and 1707 Franklin St. One fire took place at a boarded-up condo complex under construction. Another was started in trash cans.
Based on the number of calls, the Los Angeles County Fire Department was asked to assist Santa Monica firefighters. County fire investigators are helping Santa Monica Fire and Police officials with the investigation.

Investigators are still seeking suspects in a string of vehicle, shrubbery and trash bin fires set in a two-block radius of a residential area north of the Third Street Promenade from Feb. 12 to Feb. 22. No suspect has been named in that case.

Those with information regarding these crimes or any other arson/suspicious fires should call Detective William Heric at 310-458-8410, Sgt Jay Trisler at 310.458.8471, or the Santa Monica Police Department (24 hours) at 310-458-8495.

Those who wish to remain anonymous should call WeTip at 1-800-47 ARSON. Those who offer information will remain completely anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
