By Lookout Staff December 18, 2009 -- An elderly pedestrian who was struck late Tuesday morning at an intersection in the north side of the city died Thursday from his injuries, police officials said. The 82-year-old Santa Monica man was crossing in an unmarked crosswalk at the intersection of 18th Street and California Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle at 11:50 a.m. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Torrance, was traveling westbound on California Avenue, said Sgt. Jay Trisler, the Police Department spokesman. "The driver made a left turn and struck the pedestrian," Trisler said. The driver was interviewed at the scene and released, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
