Woman Killed on PCH

By Lookout Staff

September 26 – A Los Angeles woman was killed by an oncoming vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway Thursday morning when she got out of her disabled car after a crash.

The 44-year-old woman -- whose name has not been released -- had been in a collision on the 1300 block of PCH in Santa Monica two blocks north of the pier, police said.

She was struck and killed at around 10:23 a.m. while standing in front of her vehicle waiting for assistance, police said.

According to witnesses, a vehicle rammed into her car, police said. She died at the scene.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash, but it was not clear the type or who was at fault, said Sgt. Renaldi Thruston, the Police Department spokesman.

The two other drivers remained at the scene after the crash, Thruston said. Their names have not been released.

LA County Lifeguards and paramedics from the Santa Monica Fire Department responded to provide medical assistance, police said.

One of the drivers was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Thurston said. The other driver was not hurt.

No one was arrested in connection with the crash, he said.

Investigators with the Los Angeles County coroner's office were called in to help with the probe, Thruston said.
