Search for Hit-and-Run Driver |

May 30 -- Police are looking for a motorist who earlier
this month hit a homeless man crossing Lincoln Boulevard.
The victim, John Cameron Wallen, a 60-year-old homeless man, finally succumbed
to his injuries and died at a local hospital Thursday, making him the second
pedestrain in two weeks killed by a motorist in Santa Monica.
The hit-and-run fatality took place shortly after midnight on May 21as Wallen
was jaywalking across the Lincoln, just north of Ocean Park Boulevard.
“After the impact, the suspect vehicle fled the scene without stopping
or rendering aid to the pedestrian,” said Sgt. Renaldi Thurston, the Police
Department spokesman.
Paramedics from the Santa Monica Fire Department transported the victim to
a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition and placed on life
support.
Police are looking for the driver of a dark blue or black late model Toyota
Corolla or Nissan Sentra.
The vehicle should have damage to its front end and possibly its windshield
as a result of the collision, police said.
The vehicle was seen exiting the Albertsons Parking lot at 2627 Lincoln Boulevard
just prior to the collision.
The fatal accident took place five days after an elderly pedestrian
was struck and killed by a motorist in the Pico Neighborhood. (“Elderly
