Killed Crossing Street |

December 5 -- An elderly pedestrian was struck and killed
by an elderly driver while crossing Colorado Avenue on Saturday
afternoon, according to Santa Monica police.
The 80-year-old woman was crossing Colorado at 16th Street in an unmarked crosswalk
shortly after 4 p.m. when she was hit by a 94-year-old driver, police said.
The driver was behind the wheel of a 1957 Ford Thunderbird headed westbound
on Colorado Avenue, said Lt. Alex Padilla, the Police Department spokesman.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she died as a result
of her injuries, Padilla said.
The woman driving the car was not injured and voluntarily submitted to a blood
test, police said.
The Santa Monica Police Department’s Major Accident Response Team is
continuing to
investigate the cause of the collision.
