Pedestrian Killed Crossing Street

By Lookout Staff

December 5 -- An elderly pedestrian was struck and killed by an elderly driver while crossing Colorado Avenue on Saturday afternoon, according to Santa Monica police.

The 80-year-old woman was crossing Colorado at 16th Street in an unmarked crosswalk shortly after 4 p.m. when she was hit by a 94-year-old driver, police said.

The driver was behind the wheel of a 1957 Ford Thunderbird headed westbound on Colorado Avenue, said Lt. Alex Padilla, the Police Department spokesman.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries, Padilla said.

The woman driving the car was not injured and voluntarily submitted to a blood test, police said.

The Santa Monica Police Department’s Major Accident Response Team is continuing to
investigate the cause of the collision.

Anyone with additional information should call Investigator Christopher Dawson at
(310) 458-8954.
