August 13 -- Two people
were shot outside a liquor store
in the Pico Neighborhood shortly
after midnight Sunday, according
to police.
The two victims were brought
to the emergency room at Saint
John’s Health Center where
they were in critical condition,
police said.
The victims were standing in
the parking lot of Eddie’s
Liquor at the intersection of
20th and Pico Boulevard when
an unknown suspect or suspects
fired several gunshots at the
victims, striking them both,
police said.
No suspect description is available
at this time, said Lt. Alex
Padilla, the Police Department
spokesman.
Eddie’s Liquor was the
scene of an October 17, 1998
homicide that was part of a
shooting spree -- that included
the high-profile murder of a
German tourist -- that gripped
the beachside city,.
In that incident, several Latino
men chased Juan Campos into
the store and cornered him,
police said. Campos was shot
multiple times.
The investigation into Sunday’s
shooting is ongoing, Padilla
said.

regarding this incident is encouraged

Police Department Robbery/Homicide
Division at 310-458-8451.
