October 25 – A teenage girl was shot and four
suspects were arrested for drugs in two separate incidents Saturday
night, police said.
Officers responding to calls of shots fired on the 2700 block
of Pico Boulevard shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday found a 17-year
old female with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her right
leg, police said.
The victim, who is a Santa Monica resident, told police she was
walking into an apartment complex when she was shot. The victim
was treated at the scene by paramedics and transported to a local
hospital, police said.
The victim was unable to describe any suspects.
An hour and a half later, in an unrelated incident, police arrested
four suspects after recovering narcotics from two vehicles on
the 1500 block of 6th Street.
All four suspects, who smelled of marijuana, admitted they had
recently smoked the illegal drug in a nearby parking lot, police
said. A drug detection canine brought to the scene alerted police
of narcotics present in both vehicles.
“A search of the vehicles led to the recovery of over an
ounce of high-quality marijuana and an electronic scale from one
car, and over four ounces of cocaine, two ounces of high quality
marijuana, an electronic scale and packaging material from another
car,” according to a police statement.
One of the suspects admitted to being a “marijuana connoisseur,”
police said.
“The suspect stated that he is not ill and does not possess
a prescription for medical marijuana but he does obtain his high
quality marijuana from various cannabis collectives located in
West Los Angeles and Hollywood,” police said.
“The suspect said he had several friends who worked at
cannabis collectives and they obtained the high quality marijuana
for his recreational use,” police said.
The investigation is on-going.
