Sunset Park Home Burglarized

February 24 -- Police are searching for a suspect who burglarized a home in Sunset Park Wednesday afternoon, marking the third burglary within a few blocks in the last two weeks, police said.

The burglary took place shortly before 2 p.m. on the 1300 block of Pine Street, police said. Two different homes were burglarized on the 1100 block of Pine on February 8 and February 17, police said.

In all three cases, the descriptions of the suspects were too sketchy to determine if the incidents are linked, said Lt. Frank Fabrega, the Police Department spokesman.

In Wednesday’s incident, the victim said she walked into the hallway from a room and saw the suspect in the kitchen area, Fabrega said. The victim ran out of the house and the police were notified.

Responding officers established a perimeter and conducted a search, but were unable to find the suspect, Fabrega said.

The suspect is described as a thin man wearing a full length coat, police said. The victim was unable to describe the man’s race or age.

“It’s too sketchy to know” if it’s the same suspect in one of the previous burglaries, Fabrega said. “What she saw was not a lot.”

On February 8, a burglar made off with some jewelry and coins from a residence on the 1100 block of Pine Street after the victim answered a knock on her front door.

The subject who knocked was described as a 35-year-old man, possibly Armenian, of medium weight, with a fair complexion, police said. He had dark brown hair, “spikey” on top, and cut short on the sides.

The suspect had several keys on a round clip on his right side and was wearing a dark T-shirt, police said.
