Bank Robber Eludes Manhunt By Lookout Staff July 14 – Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a bank Tuesday morning, then eluded a seven-hour search that closed off a four-square-block area in the Mid-City Neighborhood. The hunt began after police responded to the US Bank on the 2200 block of Santa Monica Boulevard at 11:22 a.m. regarding an armed robbery that had just taken place, police said. After learning that a witness had followed the suspect to the area of 23rd Street and Arizona Avenue, police established a perimeter and conducted a search, said Lt. Frank Fabrega, the police department spokesman. The suspect was not located after an extensive search of the area, Fabrega said. The suspect is described as a Black man between 34 and 40 years of age, 6' tall and weighing between 170 and 175 pounds. He has a slender build and black hair and was wearing a blue shirt, blue washed-out jeans, a green or light blue baseball cap and was carrying a dark bag. An undetermined amount of U.S. currency was taken during the robbery.
