Woman Apparently Shot near Santa Monica Boulevard By Lookout Staff Nov. 25 -- A woman was in stable condition after apparently being shot in the lower back as she walked with a friend through an alley near Santa Monica Boulevard Tuesday afternoon, police said. Investigators are trying to determine the origins of the possible gunfire, police said. The victim -- who was on the 1300 block of Euclid -- said she heard "what sounded like fireworks in a far distance and continued walking," said Lt. Frank Fabrega, the police department spokesman. Seconds later, she felt pain to her lower back and realized she had possibly been shot, Fabrega said. Neither the victim nor her male companion saw any person in the vicinity that could have been responsible for the injury, Fabrega said. Santa Monica Fire Paramedics provided first aid and transported the victim to a local hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, he said. The victim was conscious, alert, and responded to questions being asked while paramedics treated her, Fabrega said. She was later transported to a local hospital for follow-up medical care. Police expect to have more information regarding the exact nature and extent of the injury after a medical examination of the victim is completed. Anyone having additional information should call the Santa Monica Police Department at 310.458.8491. |
