Sexual Assailant Sentenced

Nov. 18 -- A registered sex offender arrested for sexually assaulting a 26-year-old Santa Monica woman earlier this year pled guilty Tuesday to sexual assault and will serve 24 years and 8 months in state prison.

Darryl Renard Jackson, a 28-year-old parolee from Los Angeles, assaulted the victim in the early morning hours of March 14 after he entered her residence in the 1200 block of 21st Street through a bedroom window and brandished a knife.

Five days later he was arrested by Santa Monica Police after one of the preliminary officers who arrived at the scene remembered stopping someone several months earlier who fit the assailant's description.

Jackson was charged with numerous offenses, among them, residential burglary, rape and violating parole.
