Man Attempts to Kidnap Boy

By Lookout Staff

Jan 16 -- Police are searching for a man who allegedly attempted to kidnap a 13-year-old boy waiting for a bus on San Vicente Boulevard Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect, who was driving a late-model silver sedan, pulled up to the boy at around 1 p.m. as he waited at the stop on the 1400 block of the wide tree-lined boulevard in city's affluent north side, police said.

The boy told police that the suspect tried to lure him inside the vehicle. The boy saw his bus approaching and refused the offer. The suspect then fled east on San Vicente in his vehicle.

The suspect is described as a white male, 40 to 50 years old, 5' 6" to 5'8" tall and with a medium build. He is bald (possibly having a shaved head), has no facial hair and was wearing dark sunglasses and a dark-colored buttoned-down collared shirt.

The suspect's vehicle is described as a late model, 4-door, Silver-colored sedan with a black leather interior. No further description was provided.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Youth Services Division of the Santa Monica Police Department at 310-458-8451.
