Pedestrian Struck by DUI Suspect By Lookout Staff Dec. 22 -- A Hermosa Beach resident was arrested on suspicion of driving while drunk after he hit a pedestrian near Santa Monica High School early Friday morning, police said. The driver -- identified as William Edgar Walk, IV, 22 -- struck the pedestrian in a crosswalk on the 1600 block of 4th Street that was posted "No Pedestrian Crossing," said Lt. Frank Fabrega, the police department spokesman. The pedestrian -- identified only as a black male -- was transported to a local hospital for treatment for his injuries, Fabrega said. He is listed in critical condition. A preliminary investigation found that the motorist was traveling southbound on 4th Street when he hit the pedestrian, who was headed eastbound, Fabrega said. Walk was arrested at the scene for investigation of Felony Driving Under the Influence of an alcoholic beverage, police said. He was booked at the Santa Monica Jail, and his bail has been set at $50,000. Police are trying to determine the exact cause of the accident.
