Dear Editor,

I find myself obligated to respond to the $42.5 million of our tax dollars that are being spent for a useless and essentially failed solution to homelessness ("City Spends More than $40 Million on Homelessness But Lacks Way to Gauge Progress," December 1, 2022).

You might as well have $42.5 billion, and it would go to friends of the elected officials. As it stands now in Santa Monica your $42.5 million homeless budget is essentially a jobs program for the loyalists who support the liberal left that you keep electing in the city.

Throughout history, the successful homeless solutions were: The Romans that would take poor and homeless individuals and train them in shoe making, metallurgy, construction, food services, road building, and so on.

Napoleon had very similar solutions that included building military facilities that recruited orphans and trained them for the military and put them to work along with other Frenchmen.

While the more recent national solution was Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corps that created an employment and job training program for homeless and poor people during the Depression.

That program led to the greatest military victory -- against the accursed Nazis -- in history and led to the expansion from 1946 to 1961 that made America great. Of course until Vietnam destroyed our greatness.

We are still battling the war against homelessness.

Unfortunately now we find ourselves in a very different country. Your Santa Monica municipal government is creating job programs for liberal clones and brain-dead supporters of the elected officials to the tune of $42.5 million dollars. Plus.

Poverty is never going away; it has been with us for thousands of years. The destruction of personal rights, blind loyalty, voting as you are told -- these are all strategies used in the Soviet model that destroyed private property rights and brought about the collapse of capitalism.

It is no small matter that the Santa Monica liberal establishment is in total power. Even the homeowners have a complete misunderstanding of resources, which will in time destroy their livelihoods as they become more weak and timid, just as the City officials plan.

California is a very isolated state; the rest of the country laughs at our blind foolishness. Yes, I know your response -- you are so smart; the rest of America is stupid.

Guess Again.

Keep laughing my fellow friends till you're all poverty stricken and all of your rights have been destroyed in favor of government liberalism and destruction of private property rights.

Being a Slave of the State is a high price to pay for your desire to fit in.
