Homeless Arrests and a Spiritual Rainbow October, 16, 2002 Dear Editor, Great job on the "Homeless Account for High Percentage of Parole, Sex Offender Arrests (Oct. 15)." It's a story that needed to be told. And, my hats off to Chief Butts for coming forward with this information. I'm wondering if Joel Schwartz, Debbie Maddis (Grant PTA and OPCC assistant director), Judy Rambeau the Grant Elementary school administrators now realize the rank stupidity in distributing the "How to Talk to Your Children About the Homeless" flyer at Grant school last year and later reprinted in the Seascape that advocated children approach (homeless) strangers on the street and say, "Hello. How's your day going?" Bill Bauer October 15, 2002 Dear Editor, On Thursday, October 10th, there was a rally in front of City Hall. Catholic, Buddhist, Protestant, and other clergy of Santa Monica gathered to support the Living Wage. When was the last time you saw such a rainbow of spiritual leaders support a single cause? Why write more? Their united presence spoke more than I can even attempt. Sean Davila |
