The Bayside Transit Mall
To the tune of "Wabash Cannonball":
Our city has attractions, the people always say
There's wide and sandy beaches, and the pier down by the bay
From Main Street to Montana, it's loved by one and all
But the most amazing feature is the Bayside Transit Mall
Chorus: Listen to the jingle, the rumble and the roar
You can here it all around downtown, from every home and store
It's not caused by traffic, cause the cars can't move at all
It's the thundering herd of buses on the Bayside Transit Mall
I went to the Promenade one warm and sunny day
I thought I'd have my luncheon at a small sidewalk cafe
But the noise and air pollution, they cast a terrible pall
From buses playin' bumper tag on the Bayside Transit Mall
Chorus
We know there's too much traffic and parking space is nil
Residents don't use the bus and we're afraid they never will
So we'll make it inconvenient to drive downtown at all
And we'll hope that this will make them use the Bayside Transit Mall
Chorus
They say Thirteen Million Dollars is all we'll have to spend
But the cost will blow the budget, on that you can depend
Though parking spaces disappear, our spirits never fall
More valuable than common sense is the Bayside Transit Mall
Chorus
New York has its subway, there's BART up by the Bay
In D.C. there's the Metro, and freeways in LA
But we're famous all around the world in cities big and small
Cause they all wish that they could have a Bayside Transit Mall
