Applications Now Available to Fill Vacancy on School Board
Applications to fill a vacancy on the SMMUSD Board of Education are now available to the public. The deadline for completed applications is Monday, July 9, 2007, at 5 p.m.
Applications are available in the Superintendent's office or online at www.smmusd.org (click on Board Meetings in the left-hand column). Applications can be submitted to the Superintendent's Office at 1651 16 th Street, Santa Monica, CA 90404 (post-marked July 9th), or faxed to 310.581.1138. Please attach an updated resume to the completed application.
Applicants to the Board of Education must reside within the boundaries of either the City of Malibu or the City of Santa Monica. All persons are invited to apply for the vacancy, regardless of race, age, sex, religion, marital status, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, or disability.
The applicant chosen for this position will serve on the Board of Education until the next General Election in November 2008, at which time the community will elect a candidate to complete the remainder of the term, which ends in December 2010. The appointee may choose to run as a candidate in the November 2008 General Election for the open seat.
Ms. Emily Bloomfield, who was originally elected to the Board of Education in November 2002 and reelected in November 2006, has vacated her seat as of June 28, 2007, due to a change of residency outside the district boundaries.
