Santa Monica Police Arrest Major Meth Dealer
By Jorge Casuso
December 7, 2020 -- A suspected "high-level" supplier for numerous Santa Monica drug dealers is behind bars after an undercover investigation by Santa Monica police and federal agents.
Guadalupe Edwin Zuniga, 30, was arrested Thursday after a search warrant of the suspect's vehicle yielded "approximately 30 pounds of methamphetamine," police said
A subsequent search of the suspect's residence was also conducted by SMPD’s Special Investigations Unit (SUI) and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
"Detectives recovered a loaded Glock style 'ghost gun,' extended magazine, ammunition, cocaine hydrochloride and packaging materials," said Lt. Joseph Cortez.
Santa Monica police believe Zuniga is "a high-level methamphetamine and cocaine dealer who is suspected of being the source of supply for numerous narcotics dealers in the City of Santa Monica."
The day of his arrest, Zuniga was transferred to DEA/US Marshals custody.
Last week's arrest was the second time Zuniga was arrested by Santa Monica police.
On March 21, 2019, the force's SIU conducted a search of Zuniga's former Reseda home.
The search led to the seizure of approximately 9 ounces of suspected cocaine, approximately 300 pills of suspected alprazolam and $140,537 in cash, according to a complaint filed Thursday in U.S. District Court.
Zuniga was arrested for possession for purposes of sales and child endangerment. No charges were filed.
