Woman Fatally Stabbed in Sunset Park, Son in Custody

January 24, 2019 -- A woman was fatally stabbed and her husband and son suffered multiple stab wounds during an incident early Thursday morning in Santa Monica's Sunset Park neighborhood.
The son, who is in his 40s, is in police custody at a local hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries, said Sgt. Roberto Villegas, a Police Department spokesman.
His father is also hospitalized and is in critical condition, he said.
The incident marks the first homicide in Santa Monica this year.
The stabbings took place at around 6:23 a.m. inside a single-family home in the 1200 block of Sunset Avenue, police said.
Officers responding to the 911 call found the two men and the woman suffering from multible stab wounds, Villegas said.
The Santa Monica Fire Department responded and treated the wounded.
"The female succumbed to her stab wounds at the scene," Villegas said.
The father remains in critical condition with stab wounds to the chest, he said.
The son received stab wounds to the abdomen.
"The investigation is ongoing and at this time no additional suspects are being sought," Villegas said.
"The names of the victims and the suspect will not be released pending further investigation.
