October 24, 2016 -- Jeff Klocke, who has worked at Pacific Park since 1999, has been named vice president and general manager of the popular amusement destination on the Santa Monica Pier, park officials announced this month.

Klocke will take over the day-to-day operations from Mary Ann Powell, who will step aside from day-to-day operations and remain Chief Executive Officer and owner of Santa Monica Amusements, which has managed operations for the two-acre amusement park since 2012.

In his new role, Klocke will be in charge of Operations, Finance, Marketing, Sales, Human Resources, Rides, Retail, Security and Food and Beverage for the park, which draws 8 million visitors a year, park officials said.

“It is a remarkable honor to have this new opportunity,” said Klocke. “Together with the great team at Pacific Park I look forward to growing this successful business and furthering our commitment to Santa Monica and the surrounding communities.”

As part of the Pacific Park management group, Klocke helped oversee the introduction of the VIP Pass and helped add more than 16 new rides and attractions, introduce ten new midway games and launch more than seven new branded eateries in the oceanfront food plaza.

In addition, Klocke created and directs Pacific Park’s events department, including the popular Event Pavilion.

Klocke, who began his career as a sales manager at Hilton Hotels in Cincinnati, previously served as Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Landmark Entertainment Group, specializing in international markets including Asia, Europe and India.

Over the past year, Klocke was instrumental in several landmark initiatives launched by the park.

In January, Pacific Park launched a months-long celebration of its 20th birthday with the rollout of a new logo, some fresh painting, new lighting for the Ferris wheel and other changes ("Santa Monica’s Pacific Park Begins Celebration of 20th Birthday," January 27, 2016).

In May, Klocke and his team helped capped the birthday celebration with the unveiling of a nearly $1 million new lighting package on the world-famous Ferris wheel ("Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel Shows Off Its New Colors," May 27, 2016).

The 174,000 new state-of-the-art LED lights -- mounted on the Ferris wheel’s structure, including its 40 spokes and hubs -- provide 16.7 million color value combinations, higher resolution, greater color depth and faster “frames per second” display speed, park officials said.

In a statement announcing Klocke's new role, park officials lauded Powell's work.

"Powell has led her team to develop the vision and long-term strategies for the Park as well as oversee the daily operations, maintaining the Park’s stellar safety record and enhancing the family friendly guest experience," officials said.

Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier is LA’s only admission free amusement park and offers 12 amusement rides, 14 midway games, an oceanfront food plaza and beachside retail shops.
