Remodeled Mall Signs More Tenants

February 1, 2010 -- Retailers specializing in jewelry, eclectic sportswear and women's shoes joined the growing roster of tenants at Santa Monica Place, the Downtown mall scheduled to reopen in mid-summer after a major remodel.

The tenants announced last week are Tory Burch, which specializes in classic American sportswear; Ben Bridge Jeweler, a family-operated source for fine jewelry and timepieces, and Charles David, which returns to Santa Monica Place with its accessibly priced brand of fashion-forward women’s shoes.

“Today’s announcement of Tory Burch and more underscores the tremendous fashion appeal of the new Santa Monica Place,” Randy Brant, executive vice president of real estate for Macerich, said Thursday.

“When you add these new retailers to Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Burberry and so many others, it’s clear we’re succeeding in attracting interesting, high-quality brands to what is certainly going to be an important fashion destination on the Westside,” Brant said.

All three retailers will occupy spaces on the ground floor of the remodeled three-story mall, which will feature a round open-air plaza with wide passageways that connect the mall to the Third Street Promenade to the north and the Civic Center to the south.

Tory Burch occupy 2,025 square feet, Ben Bridge Jeweler will take up 1,388 square feet and Charles David with 1,258 square feet.

The three retailers will join others that have also signed first-floor leases -- Hugo Boss, which specializes in tailored men’s clothing and accessories; Juicy Couture, which features clothing and accessories for women and girls, and 7 For All Mankind, a premium denim dealer.

In addition to a new Bloomingdale’s and a new Nordstrom, other retailers already signed on for the project include AllSaints Spitalfields, Solstice Sunglass Boutique, Eva Varro, Burberry, Kitson, Nike, CB2, Michael Kors, Ted Baker and AllSaints.

Also signing leases are Spitalfields, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Coach, Ed Hardy, True Religion, Joe’s Jeans, Swarovski, Love Culture, Angl, Bernini, Michael Brandon, Eva Varro, Solstice Sunglass Boutique and Arthur, as well as Artevo, a technology-driven art gallery.

Scheduled to open August 6, the 30-year-old mall will feature a rooftop Dining Deck, which will offer ocean views and a carefully selected set of chef-driven restaurants and quick-casual dining options.
