Police
Checkpoint on PCH Saturday |
By Lookout Staff
December 13 -- If you plan to take Pacific Coast Highway
Saturday, make sure you’re sober and are carrying your driver’s
license.
Santa Monica Police will be conducting a Driver's License/Sobriety Checkpoint
at the 400 block of PCH on the busy thoroughfare, said Lt. Alex Padilla, the
Police Department spokesman.
“It’s the holiday season and we want the dangers of drinking and
driving to be at the forefront of everyone’s mind,” Padilla said.
“It’s the right time of the year and people have been speeding
on PCH,” Padilla said.
The goal of the checkpoint is to reduce the number of impaired drivers on the
roadways and confirm drivers' license status, Padilla said.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant by the Office of Traffic Safety,
through the National Traffic Safety Administration.
The Santa Monica Police Department reminds drivers to have a designated driver
or call a cab if you plan to drink.

Department's Traffic Enforcement Division at (310) 458-8993.
