By Lookout Staff

April 26 -- Police are searching for a suspect who attempted to kidnap a woman near Downtown Santa Monica Tuesday morning.

The man -- described as a Hispanic in his fifties – drove past the victim and stopped his vehicle, police said. He walked up to the victim, grabbed her and attempted to pull her into his vehicle.

“The victim was able to get away and called police,” said Lt. Frank Fabrega, the Police Department spokesman. “The suspect fled in his vehicle.”

The suspect is described as 5’5 tall and weighing 140 pounds, police said. He has gray and black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion.

The suspect had no facial hair, but had heavy red acne on his cheeks and a large nose with a circular scar on the bridge, police said.

He was wearing a light blue short-sleeve shirt, black jeans with a metal belt buckle with the word “Salvador” or “El Salvador” and blue and white tennis shoes, police said. The suspect spoke both in English and Spanish.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a large, newer model SUV, similar to a Lincoln Navigator, white with stock rims, police said. The vehicle had dark tint on the back windows and a small white wooden cross hanging on the rearview mirror.
